Since 1901 - Austria's oldest Wheat Beer Brewery

1900 – 1930

1900 – 1930

"DIE WEISSE" was founded by brewer, adventurer and big game hunter Adelbert Behr in 1901.
After Behr fought in Transvaal (South Africa) for the cause of the Boers – according to the annals of history –, he returned to Europe with his wife Kreszenzia and wanted to settle down and run a brewery. However, he was suspicious of the Munich authorities and thus encouraged a relative of Creszenz Wiesböckal to acquire the farm Rupertihof for him, which was located on Rupertgasse in Salzburg.

In September 1900, the plans for the construction of the wheat beer brewery were submitted and approved by the Salzburg City Council. The original submission plans of the facility can still be viewed in "DIE WEISSE". The plant was completed in January 1901. Two years later, the Behr couple finally took over the wheat beer brewery themselves.
